My arms and legs are growing large. My muscles are becoming defined. To be honest, it kind of freaks me out. Since I skimp on cardio, my muscles are bulking up and so my arms are bigger, albeit more toned, than they were before I started! I noticed the other day while at the gym. The walls are all covered with mirrors and so you can essentially see several different angles of yourself and others, whether or not you want to. I was wearing a tank top and had to do a double-take when I glanced at my arms. It is weird to see such bulk on myself.
As most people who have ever tried to lose weight know...it is so much harder to kick the chubby gut than you would think. It is really funny, beneath the layer of fat on my abdomen is the makings of a six-pack--the pay-off of the nearly 400 crunch exercises I do at the gym, weekly. I am doing okay with my diet. Making healthier choices and eating smaller portions. I am at the gym three times a week. I just need more activity. It makes me want to run...and run...and run. However, running is difficult for me because of my asthma. I hate feeling trapped in a body with such weak lungs. Spinning is a godsend. Not only do I enjoy it, but I burn hundreds of calories in one half-hour session. The scheduling has interfered with my work schedule, however, so I am not able to get to as many of the evening classes. I am going to try to do some running each week so I can build up my endurance. I've enjoyed a couple nice long walks around campus in the evenings now that the weather is a bit warmer. I would love to make an evening walk a priority at least twice a week. It really helps to clear my head. Maybe I can do some jogging intermittently. I know that running/walking intervals are good for your heart. I am not going to give up...!
